PhD Positions in Polymer Science
PolymerÉTS the polymers engineering laboratory of Ecole de Technologie Supérieure de Montreal is looking three PhD candidates to develop a project in collaboration with the Leibniz Institute of Polymer Forshung in Dresden Germany. The research will be carried out within the frame of the Tier 1 Canadian Research Chair held by Professor Nicole R. Demarquette
Research projects:
The first student will delve into material optimization, a crucial aspect of our project. By carefully controlling the morphology of nanocomposites through techniques such as polymer blending or compatibilization, we aim to create light strain sensors using conductive nanoparticles like carbon nanotubes or graphene mixed with thermoplastic elastomers. This optimization is essential for stabilizing the material, especially considering its eventual processing through additive manufacturing methods.
The second student will play a pivotal role in sensor design, focusing on manufacturing and testing. This involves translating theoretical concepts into tangible prototypes, ensuring their functionality and reliability under various conditions.
Meanwhile, the third student will spearhead efforts in ensuring the circularity of the developed sensors. As sustainability becomes increasingly imperative, our research aims to address this by developing sensors that not only perform exceptionally but can also be recycled efficiently, minimizing environmental impact.
Connaissances requises
- Master’s in chemical engineering or materials engineering with a good background in polymers.
- Full proficiency in English
