Characterization of industrial metallic materials from hybrid laser welding

The LOPFA laboratory at the École de technologie supérieure is looking for a postdoctoral researcher with a background in metallurgy and mechanics and significant technical experience to take charge of a research project on the characterization of parts manufactured by welding (WAAM or hybrid laser).

Activities will focus on the microstructural and mechanical characterization of materials fabricated under different conditions. The postdoctoral fellow will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of a major manufacturing process, and to enhance his or her technical, scientific and personal skills by working with stateoftheart equipment and collaborating with experienced researchers and industrial partners.

Main responsibilities:

• Management and planning of research projects
• Mechanical testing and implementation of a fatigue testing campaign
• Fractographic analysis by confocal microscopy, electron microscopy, EBSD, EDX, etc.
• Defect analysis by tomography and statistical analysis (extreme values)
• Metallographic sample preparation and microstructure characterization
• Data analysis and drafting of technical reports and articles
• Leading weekly meetings with industrial and academic partners to share project progress.
• Technical supervision of interns or Master's/Doctorate students
